Materials and care

What your case is made of, and how to keep it.

The material

Cassien cases are printed in thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) by powder-bed fusion. TPU is tough and slightly yielding: it absorbs the knock of a fall rather than passing it to the phone, and it springs back into shape.

  • Walls: 1.6 mm all round.
  • Back: 1.8 mm, with at least 1.0 mm remaining under the deepest part of the pattern.
  • Screen lip: 1.0 mm above the glass, so the screen never meets the table.
  • Camera lip: 1.2 mm above the highest lens ring.
  • Corners: internal air cells in all four corners to soften a drop.
  • Buttons: covered by thin membranes with a small nub inside, so each press is clean.

The finish

After printing, each case is bead-blasted to an even satin and dyed to its colourway. The surface has a fine, dry texture, closer to suede than to plastic. Natural colours such as Bone may vary a little from case to case; this is the material, not a fault.

The lining

A microfibre lining is applied by hand inside the back. It keeps the glass of your phone clean and quiet against the case.

Care

  • Wipe with a soft, slightly damp cloth. For marks, a drop of mild soap in water, then dry.
  • Avoid alcohol, solvents and abrasive cleaners, which can dull the satin.
  • Take the phone out before cleaning, and let the case dry fully before putting it back.
  • Pale colours can take on dye from new denim or leather over time. Keep Bone away from dark, unwashed fabrics where you can.
  • Do not leave the case in direct sun on a car dashboard. TPU tolerates heat well, but colour lasts longer out of it.

The magnet ring

If you chose the magnet ring, it sits in a pocket inside the back, under the lining. Keep magnetic accessories away from cards with magnetic stripes, and away from medical devices such as pacemakers.
